Fire Systems and Products

1. Portable Fire Extinguishers

  • ASP is an SABS registered fire extinguisher recharge facility with technicians operating under SAQCC supervision.
  • We supply and install all makes of portable fire extinguishers which include; water, foam, dry chemical powder (DCP) and Co2. All of which are available in varying sizes.
  • We supply and install special risk portable fire extinguishers, such as Clean Guard extinguishers used in IT rooms where people occupy workspace and harmful (Co2) gasses are not feasible.
  • We also design, supply and install all fire hydrants and fire hose reels.
  • Fire blankets for use in kitchens.
  • Portable wheeled dry Chemical Powder (DCP), water, foam or Co2 extinguishers.
  • Fire hose reels (complete) and service parts.
  • Cabinets for hoses, extinguishers and equipment both steel and plastic.
  • Accessories for all portable fire equipment.
  • Fire trailers and vehicle mounted skid units designed and built to customer specifications.

2. Water Suppression Systems

  • All water suppression systems are designed to very specific customer stipulated standards, be they NFPA, FM Global or ASIB.
  • We design systems complete with hydraulic calculations, noded drawings and full as-built drawings on completion.
  • We design systems for;
    • Pumped fire water designs.
    • Fire water motors (Diesel, electric) and pumps, complete with annunciator panels.
    • Containerised or brick and mortar fire pump sets.
    • Site wide reticulation systems and hydrant points.
    • Fire hose reel points.
    • Conveyor belt fire protection systems (sprinkler or high velocity).
    • Transformer fire detection and suppression systems.
    • Stores and warehouses sprinkler systems.
    • Hydraulic and lubrication pack fire detection and suppression systems.
    • Fuel tank farms.
    • Chemical storage areas.

3. Electronic Fire Detection Systems

Electronic fire detection systems are employed to detect the threat of fire as early as is possible so as to allow the mitigating measures put in place, be they human intervention or pre-designed and engineered suppression systems, to extinguish the fire as soon as is possible.

Where life safety and asset protection are of paramount importance, properly designed electronic fire detection and gaseous suppression systems cannot be ignored.

We offer the following systems;

  • Electronic fire detection systems design, supply, installation and maintenance of both, conventional (or zoned) and addressable (pinpoint device identification) fire control systems.
  • Equipment supply.
  • Equipment maintenance.
  • Room integrity testing to determine whether the gas remains in the protected room for sufficient duration to be effective.
  • Gaseous suppression systems which include but are not limited to Co2, Inergen, Pro-Inert, Pyroshield, FM200 and Argonite.
  • VESDA (Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus) which reacts much faster than conventional smoke detectors for use in high asset value installations where fast reaction is critical such as IT or computer rooms.
  • Large open area detection systems such as may be found in warehouses or stores.
  • Conveyor belt detection systems.
  • Transformer, hydraulic pack and generator set detection and suppression systems.
  • Office fire detection systems.
  • Archive fire detection systems.

4. Stand-alone Foam Suppression Systems

We understand the difficulty of protecting containerised generator sets, hydraulic and lubrication packs, smaller transformers and similar smaller high asset risks that are remote and nowhere near a fixed water supply.

We are proud to offer our stand-alone fire detection and either AFFF (Aqueous Film Forming Foam) or DCP (Dry Chemical Powder) suppression systems. These systems require no water feed and are self-contained only requiring electrical supply. They do have battery back-up in case of power outages and have the optional power supply unit addition where required.

The stand-alone systems offer the following;

  • These systems are stand-alone and do not require the addition of water as do traditional foam inducing systems, thereby lowering the total cost, as no extra water or water pipe work and pumps need to be introduced.
  • These systems are ideal for generator sets, hydraulic packs, lube packs, smaller fuel storage tanks, chemical and flammable containerized storage rooms, mini substations etc.
  • The system can be fully integrated into the broader site wide fire control system.

5. Fire Fighting Pumps

We offer a wide range of fire water pumps which are UL listed and FM approved.

  • We will design the systems and specify the correct sized pumps for each individual site as per their specific requirements.
  • We can offer containerized pump set solutions.
  • We also service and maintain all fire-fighting pumps.
  • All associated control panels and accessories are available from ASP Fire.

  • Industrial fire-fighting vehicles.
  • Municipal fire-fighting vehicles.
  • Medium duty fire-fighting water tankers.
  • Turntable fire-fighting / rescue ladder vehicles.
  • Airport fire-fighting vehicles.
