4” bottom loading arms are capable of loading at flow rates up to 2500lpm and are designed to enable complete crossover within the API envelope of up to 6 arms in a single bay.

Top Loading Arms

The “Pantograph” top loading arm is a simple and inexpensive design for medium duty applications with a horizontal reach of up to 2600mm. Typical flow rates for top loading are up to 1500 lpm. Options include top loading valves with or without remote operating handle, overfill protection, spear diffuser, drip buckets and parking adaptors. Vacuum breakers are also available to assist drainage of the loading arm.

The “Longreach” top loading arm with full crossover ability and a horizontal reach of up to 5500mm, can load both sides of a gantry and reach all compartments on a typical road tanker without the need to move the tanker. Options include loading valves with or without remote operating handle, overfill protection, vapour recovery, spear diffuser and parking adaptors. A special high load base swivel may be required for longer or “wet” arms.

Vapour Recovery Arms

Available in all bottom loading configurations, the vapour recovery arms provide a safe and efficient method of vapour collection. The vapour recovery arm removes the potential safety risk of vapour hoses in load bays and also eliminates the need for costly hose replacement. The vapour coupler used is the low pressure drop VCF500 vapour coupler which allows for multiple compartmental loading.

Keep the loading arms at a certain height to connect to the API envelope. Simple and safe balance adjustment.

Spool Pieces

Loading Arm spool pieces made to length with either 75mm(3”) or 100mm (4”) TTMA flanges are available in mild steel, stainless steel or aluminium configuration to suit individual customer requirements.

Swivels / Break-away Couplings

Single plane cast aluminium swivel commonly mounted on outboard end of bottom loading arm, allowing movement of the drop hose and loading coupler relative to the tanker API Adaptor. A ball and needle bearing system provides optimum axial and radial load bearing with minimum friction 360-degree rotation in the horizontal plane.

Safety Break-away couplings are used to prevent pull away accidents, protect terminal and loading/unloading equipment and eliminate unwanted product release.

Drop Hose

Hard wall hose used for the suction delivery of unleaded gasoline and fuels with aromatic content, suitable for use as a tank truck hose.

API Coupler

Allow for connection & disconnection without any spillage from the loading rack to the tanker, The API710 is an automatic latching bottom coupler that provides effortless automatic connection for a safe and drip free product transfer.

Overfill Protection

The complete overfill protection system ensures that a truck compartment cannot be overfilled with liquid. The system switches off the pump in 0.5 seconds, thus preventing spillage.

Vapour Coupler

The latest release vapour coupling with spring loaded hinged poppet retains vapours until coupled to the male vapour adaptor.

Hydrant Coupler

Hydrant coupler used in Jet Aircraft refuelling operations.  It connects to a hydrant pit valve or hydrant pit adaptor to allow pressurized fuel to flow from an underground pipeline and into the receiving aircraft.

Underwing Nozzles

Internal interlock technology results in a smaller, thinner, lighter nozzle.  Easily connects to all aircraft, even newer, smaller private jets.

Overwing Zozzles

SPIRAL WOUND GASKETS

Spiral wound gaskets have the ability to recover under the action of fluctuating loads caused by process fluid pressure and temperature changes, flange face temperature variations, flange rotation, bolt stress relaxation and creep. The gasket sealing element consists of a pre-formed metallic winding strip with layers of a softer, more compressible sealing material which, during compression, is densified and flows to fill imperfections in the flange surfaces when the gasket is seated. The metal strip holds the filler giving the gasket mechanical resistance and resilience.

Gaskets can be manufactured from a range of filler materials according to different service conditions :

The following guidelines are designed to ensure the optimum performance of our gasket materials:

1. Choosing the Gasket
   There are many factors which must be taken into account when choosing a gasket material for a given application including the chemical compatibility, temperature and pressure. If you have any questions regarding the suitability of material for a given application, please contact TBJ Africa.

2. Gasket Thickness
   Gasket material should be as thin as possible. Increasing the thickness of the material decreases the load-bearing capacity of the material. Thinner materials also have better torque retention characteristics.

3. Flange Condition & Flange Surface Finish
   Ensure all remains of the old gasket material are removed and the flanges are clean and in good condition. We typically recommend a flange surface finish of 3 2μm (125μ”) to 6.3μm (250μ”) for our gasket grades when used on standard pipe flanges.

4. Gasket Compounds
   Ensure all soft cut gaskets are installed in a dry state – the use of jointing compounds is not recommended. Releasing agents such as grease or oil containing compounds are not required and can adversely affect the material, lowering the torque retention properties. To aid gasket removal, our manufacturers materials have an anti-stick finish.

5. Gasket Dimensions
   Ensure gasket dimensions are correct. The gasket should not intrude into the bore of the pipe-work and should be installed centrally.

6. Bolting
   Wire brush stud/bolts and nuts (if necessary) to remove any dirt on the threads. Ensure that the nuts can run freely down the thread before use. Apply lubricant with a known friction coefficient to the bolt threads, to the nut threads and to the face of the nut to be tightened.

7. Joint Assembly
   It is recommended that the bolts are tightened using a controlled method such as torque or tension, this will lead to greater accuracy and consistency than using conventional methods of tightening. If using a torque wrench, ensure that it is accurately calibrated.

TBJ AFRICA are committed to providing our customers with world class service in the hydraulic and pump industry thereby also contributing to the success of our customers. We work closely with our customers to identify any actual or potential problems with components, and thereafter to provide realistic and cost effective solutions in Africa.

Our manufacturing partner has state of the art facilities and the capabilities to manufacture and repair cylinders ranging from 40mm to 1000mm in diameters and up to 14 meters in length.

Their continuous drive to improve quality and service is reflected in the following:

SERVICE EXCHANGE

Our manufacturer carries a large variety of service exchange units which varies from opencast to underground equipment. They are also committed to carrying stock, if contract agreements with our customers are in place. This will however be discussed should the need arise.

TESTING FACILITIES

After the assembly the hydraulic components are thoroughly tested on test benches with no human intervention. A test certificate accompanies every hydraulic component. If necessary the final product will be coated with Tectile to prevent rust during the shipping/transport period as well as crated.

1. Cylinder testing – capable of testing cylinders at 700 bar with variable speed control up to 20m.
2. Single acting cylinder test bench
3. Computerised pump test benches–165Kw&74Kw Capable of testing components up to 700LPM and 400 bars pumps, valves, motors and brake for testing of wheelmotors

Hydraulic Cylinder Stripping Bench

The hydraulic stripping allows cylinders to be stripped horizontally ensuring that there is no chance of secondary damage occurring to the cylinder components during the stripping process. This system eliminates the risk of any secondary damage occurring when assembling cylinders.

PLC Based Cylinder Test Bench

The system is designed to test cylinders independently of a human operator. Once the test has been aborted it is impossible for the operator to print a test certificate until the unit has been retested.
